JCG DESIGN EDITION

At the same time as his perfume bottle designs, Jean-Christophe GAYDON offers his lamps, his stoneware in a Raku style, and, lately, his blotter clip creations.

BLOTTER CLIPS

Jean-Christophe GAYDON DESIGN offers now a full service, from creation to manufacturing.

The Grasse company ROBERTET has innovated with this first blotter clip line, customized in a shiny nickel galvanized Zamac.

RAKU

Alongside his perfume bottle designs, JCG invites you to discover his enameled stoneware creation in the Raku style.

This glazing process gives a gripping effect, a random crack grid, a contrast in between the matt smoky black of earth and the glaze of white, uneven, clotted, materializing the strength of the thermal shock of earth and fire. The incandescent pieces are taken out of the oven at 960 °C. This important thermal shock causes cracks on the glaze. To reveal it, the pieces are placed into paper, or wood chips, or any other flammable item that burns instantaneously, giving a thick smoke. The pieces that are still very hot absorb the smoke carbon into their cracks. This is how we get this double phenomenon: the thermal shock (the cracks) and the smoking out (the black color to the unglazed parts).
